You can be the teacher who plans around the learner, not a scheme of work - the teacher a vulnerable young person actually needs. None of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced SEND teachers in Cheshire, £28 - £35 per hour, for one-to-one work with children and young people who haven't been served by mainstream provision.
What you get
- Flexible schedule: Most placements are a few sessions a week (time-limited part-time engagements), with more hours sometimes available. Work not guaranteed; you choose your placements.
- Work from home: Planning, prep, and reporting from home; hybrid placements available.
- Tes CPD access: Unlimited Tes professional development library, plus our own SEMH-focused CPD.
- Specialist team behind you: SENDCos, Designated Safeguarding Leads, senior special-school leaders, and experienced tutors.
- Community events: Online drop-ins, knowledge-sharing sessions, and a community of fellow teachers and tutors.
How we work
We meet each young person where they are - engagement before attainment, child-led. We match, we don't dictate. Trauma-informed teaching that's transformative, not a gap filler - trusted by Local Authorities and schools across the UK.
Day to day
- One-to-one teaching in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
- Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
- Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many have been out of school for some time.
- Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.
You'll need
- Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
- Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
- Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
- Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.
- Right to work: UK-based with right to work in the UK.
