Online / Remote Teacher, Hertfordshire

You can be the teacher who plans around the learner, not a scheme of work - online, reaching young people who can't easily get to one otherwise. None of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced teachers in Hertfordshire, £25 - £30 per hour, for one-to-one online sessions with vulnerable children and young people across the UK; many can't access in-person provision, many have been out of school.

What you get

  • Work from home: Fully remote.
  • Flexible schedule: Most placements are a few sessions a week (time-limited part-time engagements), with more hours sometimes available. Work not guaranteed; you choose your placements.
  • Tes CPD access: Unlimited Tes professional development library, plus our own SEMH-focused CPD.
  • Specialist team behind you: SENDCos, Designated Safeguarding Leads, senior special-school leaders, and experienced tutors.
  • Community events: Online drop-ins, knowledge-sharing sessions, and a genuine community of fellow teachers.

How we work

We meet each young person where they are - engagement before attainment, child-led. We match, we don't dictate. Trauma-informed teaching that's transformative, not a gap filler - trusted by Local Authorities and schools.

Day to day

  • One-to-one online teaching in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
  • Sessions typically 1-2 hours via secure video platform, usually within school hours; placements often run with the same learner for months.
  • Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many have been out of school for some time.
  • Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You'll need

  • Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs - plus comfort teaching online.
  • Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
  • Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
  • Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Tech setup: Reliable broadband, a working webcam, and a quiet space to teach.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this), two professional references, and UK-based with right to work in the UK.
