Celebrating the wins: How Targeted Provision delivers truly child-centred support

When it comes to supporting vulnerable young people, a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work. At Targeted Provision, we believe meaningful progress happens when education is built around the individual, their needs, their voice, and their potential. This child-centred philosophy is at the heart of everything we do and is what makes us different.

How we’re different

Catering to the individual

All young people within Alternative Provision (AP) typically have additional needs. That’s why we take a personalised and holistic approach to education and support. Every programme is designed around the individual, recognising their strengths, challenges, and circumstances rather than forcing them into a fixed model of learning.

The voice of the young person

We actively value and prioritise the voices of our young people. They are involved in shaping their own learning plans, giving them ownership over their journey and empowering them to work towards goals that genuinely matter to them. When young people feel heard, engagement and confidence grow.

Achievable, meaningful outcomes

By focusing on individual interests and needs, we set realistic and purposeful targets. This allows young people to clearly see their progress, celebrate achievements, and rebuild belief in their own abilities, often after difficult educational experiences.

A strong duty of care

Safeguarding is not just a policy, it’s a practice. We take a child-centred approach to safeguarding, ensuring that every decision keeps the young person at the core. We work closely with families and professionals to provide consistent, supportive care that prioritises wellbeing alongside learning.

Led by what works

Our methods are never static. We continuously monitor progress, assess impact, and adapt our strategies to respond to changing needs. This flexible approach ensures that support remains relevant, effective, and responsive.

Targeted Provision is not a tutoring agency, it is a specialist Alternative Provision designed exclusively for vulnerable young people.

What sets us apart:

  • Mandatory staff training in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and latent vulnerability
  • A dedicated SEND Support Team
  • Active involvement in PEP and EHCP review meetings
  • Ongoing engagement with Ofsted and the Department for Education to help shape and uphold safety standards
  • A relational learning model that prioritises trust, consistency, and connection

Everything we do is designed with vulnerable young people in mind. By going beyond traditional tutoring and placing relationships, safeguarding, and personalised support at the centre, we help young people not only re-engage with education but rediscover confidence, ambition, and hope for the future.

At Targeted Provision, celebrating the wins means recognising progress in all its forms, academic, emotional, and personal and standing alongside young people every step of the way.
